The panels are bolection moulded, the carving in the front ones being bold and good. The legs are carved with pseudo-Ionic caps, and the top of the case has a cantilever cornice. The choice and arrangement of wood in this case give evidence of skill, and the brass work in the sconces and side handles is excellent." The Furniture Gazette, 01/07/1885, p. 310
